Overnight Zoofari Adventures for Northland Students

Students from seven different Northland schools in June are going to be able to have the experience of a life time. The Warehouse’s Zoofari is going nocturnal. Students will get to stay the night at the zoo; their adventure will include a guided night walk, interactive education sessions, exploring other parts of the zoo and sleeping in the Elephants old house.

The Zoofari programme has been running now for four years in partnership with Auckland Zoo and The Warehouse with support from Ritchie’s Transport. The program is aimed at giving children from low decile schools the opportunity to visit the Zoo; allowing them to gain knowledge and insight into conservation and gives the students the opportunity to connect with wildlife.

Auckland Zoo team leader for Schools Programmes, Laura Rayner says, “The Warehouse Zoofari programme offers children who wouldn’t necessarily get the opportunity to visit Auckland Zoo; an enriching experience that connects them to wildlife.”

Thanks to the generosity of Northland customers more schools and students from Northland are able to participate in the Zoofari, a truly memorable experience. Auckland Zoo education experiences are Ministry of Education certified, and every Zoofari session is a unique lesson facilitated by an Auckland Zoo educator in partnership with teachers to ensure integration into the school curriculum.
